Erik Sanford

Erik has been involved with implementing BIM in construction for over 15 years, having first started with implementing 3D technology in geodetics. From there Erik joined Skanska USA Building, one of the main contractors who deeply invested into implementing BIM in the core of its processes. There Erik managed regional BIM projects and participated in developments on the national level.

From 2014 Erik works with Dimeo Construction Company where he implements and develops the use of BIM along with the needed processes and standards. Erik is also leading a local BIM roundtable in Boston.

Reet Kalmet

BIMCON OÜ, founding board member

Reet Kalmet has a background in architecture and is an experienced construction and design manager. From 2008 she worked at Skanska AS, where she helped to develop standards and manuals for successful BIM implementation, trained employees and managed the implementation of BIM on construction projects. In 2014 Reet started her own business BIMCON OÜ, that offers both traditional and BIM design management in Estonia and abroad. Additionally, Reet is involved in a number of pursuits helping to develop BIM standards and processes in Estonia.

Silver Neemelo

Capital Mill OÜ, construction manager

Silver has graduated from Tallinn University of Technology, the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Towards the end of his studies he began working as a site manager for NCC Eesti AS and after a few projects was promoted to a project manager. In 2010 he was nominated for the Builder of the Year for the construction of Rannarootsi center - the project which started his collaboration with Capital Mill. Two years later he became the construction manager of Capital Mill OÜ. Capital Mill helps investors acquire real estate in the Baltic countries and generate value through high-quality property management services.

Fred Mills

Fred has worked with main contractors Willmott Dixon and Osborne in the United Kingdom, supporting BIM implementation across their organisations.

 

He is passionate about BIM and believes it can play a significant role in changing the construction industry for the better. Mindful of need for mass uptake and the complex way BIM was being presented, he co-founded The B1M in 2012 to inspire a widespread adoption with engaging video content.

 

The B1M channel now has over 23,000 social media followers watching in 144 countries across six continents. They are ranked Number 1 in the global list of Top 500 BIM influencers and co-hosted an event with YouTube at Google's London headquarters in January 2016. The B1M release new videos every Wednesday at 14:00 EET

René Schumann

René started working in HOCHTIEF – the largest construction company in Germany - in 1998 supporting its endeavors to implement virtual construction techniques. In 2007 this lead to establishment of a subsidiary company called HOCHTIEF ViCon, which is now one of the lead service providers in the field of virtual construction and BIM. Being in HOCHTIEF ViCon from day one has allowed René to witness the developments of virtual construction industry first hand and be part of a number of high-profile BIM projects in the world.

 

Some of the most remarkable projects of Rene include Lusail City, Doha Metro and Doha FIFA stadium projects in Qatar.

Jeremy Thibodeau

Jeremy has a background of architecture and he has been involved with BIM since 2007. His strong interest in BIM took him to the construction side of the industry where his background has been a great asset when main contractors have been developing their BIM technologies and processes.

For the past four years Jeremy has worked with Skanska USA Building, where he started with leading BIM efforts on a $600 million biomedical research facility and is now the regional BIM manager. His roles in addition to project support also involve broader development and training on a national level. Jeremy is also experienced as a lector on BIM.

Virgo Sulakatko

Virgo has graduated from Tallinn University of Technology, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and has an MBA in business strategy and technology innovation. Currently he is pursuing his Phd degree in TUT and the Technical University of Berlin. He has experience as a project manager in construction, development manager in construction retail and for the last few years he has contributed in the digital construction filed at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications as a project manager. Virgo is active in the EUBIM Taskgroup funded by European Commission.

Avo Ambur

Avo has graduated from Tallinn University of Technology, the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Since 2002 he has been the board member at Nordecon AS where he has had different roles, including being the technical manager, development manager and sales manager. Previously, Avo worked for Lemminkäinen AS as a project manager. He is certified by the Estonian Association of Civil Engineers as a Level V engineer in the field of general construction. Avo is currently responsible for the sales and pre-construction and throughout the last year has been encouraging BIM implementation in Nordecon AS.

Indrek Moorats

Indrek Moorats is a board member and the development director in one of the largest real estate owners and developers in the Baltics, E.L.L. Real Estate. Indrek is leading the preparation and delivery of a group of new developments in the Baltic states. He is also responsible for developing strategies for currently owned, as well as new real estate purchases. As one of the leaders and founding members of the Digital Construction Cluster , Indrek sees an important challenge in the implementation of BIM principles throughout the project lifecycle and in raising the awareness of all stakeholders.

 

Since 1994 Indrek has worked in several positions in the construction industry, including over 10 years as a site and project manager in one of the Baltic leading construction companies AS Merko Ehitus. Indrek has graduated from Tallinn University of Applied Sciences, majoring in building and road construction.

Merylin Rüütli

Board member, Projekt Kuubis

Merylin has graduated from Tallinn University of Technology, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. For the last 12 years she has run an architectural design and structural engineering firm Projekt Kuubis that is mainly focused on export. Her team has used BIM since 2009.

 

Merylin is one of the leaders of the Cluster of Digital Construction created in 2015. Encouraged by the positive impact of BIM on projects, the goal of the cluster is to create an e-environment that would benefit the whole life cycle of a construction project. 600 000 euros are being invested into developing e-construction over a period of 3 years. The cluster is being funded by private companies and the European Regional Development Fund.

Kristel Uibo

Kristel has a Master’s degree in sociology and organizational behaviour from Tallinn University and for the past 20 years has been working in an Autodesk software distributor and training company Usesoft. Usesoft has been supporting the implementation of BIM technology in Estonia since 2008 and has also conducted several related studies.

Eva Lomp

Eva has a Master’s degree in buildings’ energy efficiency from Tallinn University of Technology and has worked as a BIM software consultant in the company AruCAD Süsteemid for 2 years. AruCAD Süsteemid is an Autodesk Gold Partner and Training Centre. As a software consultant Eva introduces BIM software solutions to Estonian construction companies and conducts necessary training sessions. Her aim is to make onsite Autodesk solutions available to the construction companies and by that raise the companies’ productivity.

Raul Aripmann

Raul has graduated from the civil engineering department of Tallinn University of Technology and worked as a structural designer for 18 years, 10 of those in Sirkel & Mall. He is the person who started the BIM implementation process in the company in 2008. For years he has been the head of the structural design division, conveying the BIM ideas to the whole team. Raul is a structural construction professional who finds the answers even to the most complicated problems.

Andrus Kõresaar

Andrus Kõresaar is the co-founder and partner at architecture office KOKO architects, created in 2000.Kõresaar is a flying architect in many ways. After the initial success as the architect of Estonian pavilion at Hannover EXPO Kõresaar went on to fill Tallinn with landmark buildings from old industrial sites, museums to the synagogue. While working on the Seaplane harbour - the EU award winning maritime museum, he wanted to get to know the topic in depth and took a pilot’s licence.

 

KOKO architects’ speciality is clever conversion - old into new, always in a brave and unexpected way. BIM implementation has played an important part in making the work process more efficient and convenient, today BIM technologies have become an essential tool for KOKO architects.
